Vintage Paws Sanctuary Memorial Garden | Sarasota Florida Pet Photography

May 3, 2013

Vintage Paws Sanctuary is the brain child of my friend and owner of Ace Pet Resort, Jennifer Hummel.  Jen Started the non-profit 501(c)3 sanctuary in 2012 and has since acquired quite a few residents at the Sarasota Florida location. Her goal with Vintage Paws is to give senior and terminally-ill dogs a home of their own through the help of grants, fundraising and private donors.

A few weeks ago, with the help of volunteers including Backyard Getaway and Re-Scape.com, the group built a memorial garden on the grounds of Ace Pet Resort. I stopped by to lend a hand and snap a few pics. A few of the residents came out to support (hugs and cuddles) as well.

April Yappy Hour | Woof Gang Bakery and Grooming | Lakewood Ranch Florida | Sarasota Pet Photography

April 13, 2013

Did you know that Woof Gang Bakery & Grooming in Lakewood Ranch Florida has recently had a makeover?

Mike and Barb Maloney, the owners, contacted me to be a part of their fresh new look.  I'm happy to report that I have recently teamed up with them to feature some of my favorite images in their store.

Every third Thursday of the month, Woof Gang hosts a "Yappy Hour" get together, open to the public and their pets, at the Lakewood Ranch location (8314 Market Street, Lakewood Ranch, Fl, 34202). This month's "Yappy Hour" will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013, 5-7pm.

Mike and Barb were kind enough to invite me to be their special guest for the April event. I couldn't be more excited. There will be fun treats for the pups, and drinks and appetizers for you. Woof Gang will be providing FREE nail trims and other special prizes as well.

I have also put together something special for all attendees. I will be raffling off a custom photo session valued at $250.00. So stop by anytime between 5-7pm on Thursday, April 25th. Have a drink and bite to eat, and let your pup sample some of the deliciousness Woof Gang has to offer.

Paws In Motion Walk-A-Thon | 2013 | Humane Society of Manatee County | Sarasota Florida Pet Photography

March 16, 2013

Last Saturday, March 9th, was the 7th Annual Paws In Motion Walk-A-Thon for The Humane Society of Manatee County. This was the third year I have covered the event for the HSMC. The event was moved down the road to Bradenton's Riverwalk this year. The new location was perfect, with plenty of room for pets and their people to play and relax after the walk.

Aside from the awesome food trucks and vendors, the HSMC added a "Doggy Fun Zone" for the dogs to test out their agility and lure skills. What a great way to spend a beautiful Saturday morning here in Florida, walking for such a great cause. The Humane Society raised over $53,000 at this event! The individual that raised the most donations this year gets to have their pet be the official "Spokes-Dog" for 2014 and photographed by yours truly! I can't wait to meet this lucky dog! Thank you and Congratulations to the HSMC for such a fun event!

Here are a few of the many moments I captured throughout the morning. If you don't see your pooch's photo below, don't worry, I have a complete gallery posted HERE.  [http://www.dogstreetphoto.com/gallery/event-galleries/paws-in-motion-2013]

Celebration of Pets 2013 | Pet Pages | Sarasota Florida Pet Photography

March 7, 2013

Saturday, March 2nd, was the Third Annual Celebration of Pets event out at the Sarasota Fair Grounds here in Florida. Although it was a bit chilly, rainy, and windy for us, it was perfect dog weather!

There were so many fun things to do including Dock Diving, Agility, a Weave Pole Challenge, Lure Coursing, and the beloved "Wiener Dog Derby".  I missed the Derby the passed couple years and had heard it was a must see event. I got there early this time and it certainly did not disappoint!  It was hard to keep my camera focused because I was laughing so hard.

Aside from the activities, there were all sorts of vendors as well. I participated as a vendor last year, and unfortunately, didn't get to see much of the event itself. It was great to bop around this year and talk with fellow business owners and visit their booths.

I had such a blast running into old friends and meeting new ones too. Here are just a few highlights of the day's festivities. If you don't see your pooches pic below, I have a complete gallery posted HERE. [http://www.dogstreetphoto.com/gallery/event-galleries/celebration-of-pets-2013]

Thanks to Pet Pages for hosting yet another fun and successful Celebration of Pets!  I am already looking forward to next year!

Although it was an unseasonably warm day, everyone seemed to be in the Holiday spirit.  An afternoon filled with fun and activities for the whole family.  Not to mention, some pretty fabulous vendors.  I know I got a lot of my Holiday shopping done.  I am so proud to be a member of the pet community here in Sarasota with such a great network of fantastic small businesses. Halloween Festival 2012 | Humane Society of Sarasota County | Florida Pet Photography

October 25, 2012

The Humane Society of Sarasota County's Annual Halloween Festival was this past Saturday out at the Fairgrounds. Every year this event gets better and better and the turnout was awesome, despite all of the other festivities going on around town. I met such wonderful dogs and their people and saw a lot of familiar faces as well. The costumes were all so great. I know the judges had a hard time picking winners for the infamous costume contest.

Here is a little bit of the afternoon. If you would like to see all the photos from the day's activities, I have posted a full gallery  HERE or go to http://goo.gl/dX0ge

For the second year in a row, the awesome HSSC volunteers put on a demonstration with some of the rescue dogs.  They have been working working one on one with them improving training, manners, and agility skills. Both volunteers and dogs did an amazing job showing off their talents. Huge kudos to all of the HSSC's volunteers! You guys rock!

Dog Days of Summer Event | Sarasota Florida Pet Photography | 2012

Summertime in Florida... It's hot, sticky, and just feels like the "Dog Days"...  Well, Saturday morning, July 21st, was the Dog Days of Summer Sidewalk Sale in Downtown Sarasota and could not have been more fun, festive and dare I say comfortable!  The event kicked off under the big shade trees, just off of Main St. at Five Points Park, and was put on by The Downtown Sarasota Alliance, The Downtown Improvement District, and The Downtown Farmers Market.

There was a "Barking Beauties" Bikini Contest, Live Music, a K9 Demonstration, and Good Citizen Evaluations. The celebration continued throughout the afternoon with many of the Main St. merchants participating in the sale.  This event was a lot of fun and I hope it becomes an annual summertime tradition.

Some awesome folks from Sarasota County Animal Services brought a couple of Coonhounds that are currently residing at the Shelter.  These two beauties were found out in Myakka not to long ago and this was their first time out and about. They were having a blast, so gentle, sweet, and absolutely beautiful.  I am such a sucker for hound dogs and if I had the room for them, they would definitely be new additions to my family.

I met all kinds of pooches dressed to impress, showing off there beach bodies in their bikini best!  All of the images a available for purchase, just contact me HERE or emailing me at:   This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Paws on the Catwalk 2012 | Humane Society of Sarasota County | Ritz Carlton Sarasota | Florida Pet Photography

The 6th Annual Paws on the Catwalk Luncheon was held on Friday April 27, 2012 at The Ritz Carlton in Sarasota, Florida. The luncheon, silent auction, and fashion show all went to benefit The Humane Society of Sarasota County. Every year this event seems to get better and better.  If you were one of the lucky ticket holders to this sold out event, it definitely did not disappoint.

Many of the attendees were able to meet and greet with some of the HSSC's pets up for adoption and stars of the runway during the pre-lunch festivities.

The fashion show was fabulous with models sporting fashions from local stores and boutiques in town.

Even Dr. Chauvet took a spin down the catwalk.

But the real stars of the show were the HSSC's own pups. They did fantastic!

And here are the super awesome volunteers of the HSSC that helped escort the pooches down the runway! Thank you for all your time and effort in helping make this years event one to remember!

Paws in Motion Walk-A-Thon | Humane Society of Manatee County | Sarasota Pet Photography

Last Saturday, March 24th, was the Annual Paws in Motion Walk-A-Thon to benefit the Humane Society of Manatee County.  This is the second year in a row that I have covered the event for the HSMC in beautiful downtown Bradenton, and once again was fantastic turnout.  So many of you raised money and came out on picture perfect Saturday morning to show your support. Bravo!

I'm still not sure it was the best idea to stand in front of everyone as the walk began. I sure got a lot of wet kisses as they passed me and certainly posed for an interesting perspective. And there off...

Almost as soon as it started, dogs and their people began to cross the finish line.

After the walk, the party was just getting started. There was plenty cooling off to do,

gossip to share,

kisses to give, butts to smell,

and libations to be had.

There was even a kissing booth and tricks to show off.

This super smart cookie was trained to throw the trash away.  I wish I could teach Nyla to do that.

Many of the HSMC volunteers walked with some of the shelter's residents.

This is Starbux. His person, Daniel raised the most pledges for the event!  Way to go Daniel!  Starbux will be the official "spokes-dog" for next years event.  He gets a special photo session with yours truly later in the week.

Here are all the many sweet faces I met throughout the morning.  All of the images are available for purchase.  If you are interested in purchasing a print, you can contact me HERE.

Pug Parade 2012 | Humane Society of Sarasota County | Sarasota Pet Photography

Saturday March 17th was the 17th Annual Pug Parade to benefit The Humane Society of Sarasota County.   For the second year in a row the event was held out on St. Armands Circle on St. Pug-tricks Day.  The event  brought out more than just pugs.  I met all kinds of four-legged fur balls and they came dressed to impress.

All of the images are available for purchase.  If you are interested in purchasing a print of your little one, please contact me HERE.  And remember to keep up with all things DogStreet by following on Facebook and Twitter.

This little hambone had the most perfect swirl to his tail.  One of the cutest pug butts I ever seen.

Celebration of Pets 2012 Sarasota Florida Pet Photography

The Celebration of Pets was last Saturday, February 25, 2012.  It was the second year in a row for the annual Pet Pages event. There was plenty to do and much fun had by all.  Among the many activities where Dock Diving and Agility demonstrations, Lure Coursing, Dachshund Racing, and a 24 Weave Pole Challange.

I didn't have to venture far from my booth to check out all the fun and shenanigans. These pups came ready to party!

If you would like a copy of any of the images below, they are available for purchase. Just contact me here. And remember you can keep up with all things DogStreet by following on Facebook and Twitter

This little one was getting plenty of attention showing his support for the Sarasota Veterinary Emergency Hospital.

Cesar Millan would be proud of this little peanut and her tiny backpack. Her owner said she always carries her own treats and poop bags.

What a spectacular day. I met so many new friends as well as some old friends that stopped by to say hello.

Smooches For Pooches and Kisses for Kitties Stroll HSSC

Love was in the air at the Smooches for Pooches and Kisses for Kitties Stroll last Friday evening, Feb. 10th, down in Southside Village.  The event went to benefit The Humane Society Of Sarasota County

The kissing booth saw lots of action, for obvious reasons, of course.  Who could pass up a cuddle with these therapy pups.

The fabulous volunteer crew from the HSSC was there helping out and showing off some of the shelter's special adoptable residents.

Among the many vendors, volunteer and rescue groups were Sarasota K-9 Search and Rescue. They brought one of their puppies in training. This little ones name is Stryker.

As well as Southeastern Guide Dogs with two of their pooches in training.

I think it was love at first sight for these two!

Here are some other sweet faces I met along the way.  Keep up with all things DogStreet by following on Facebook and Twitter.

Golden Fest 2011 - Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida - Sarasota Pet Photography

Golden Fest 2011 was held out at Historic Spanish Point last weekend.  The event went to benefit The Golden Retriever Rescue of Southwest Florida.  It was chilly start that morning, but quickly warmed up to be a picture perfect day.  There was a silent auction, numerous raffles, and great prizes.  A fabulous event for a wonderful cause. Historic Spanish Point is located in Osprey, Florida and on the third Saturday of every month is Pups at the Point.  It is a chance for dogs and there owners to come and experience this beautiful place together. I'm looking forward to attending it next month.

This fabulous dog house was built and donated by The National Association of Woman in Construction and was one of the many awesome raffle prizes.

This is Belle, Jen from Ace Pet Resort's border collie.  Belle was recently certified as a therapy dog.  She was definitely born to do this.   She can bring a smile to anyone's face.  Kate Franklin was in attendance as well, representing the Humane Society for Sarasota County.

I was able to capture the biggest and smallest dog at the event greeting each other.  These two were an instant Laurel and Hardy act.  I was laughing so hard, I could barely keep my camera still.

Golden Fest 2011

The event was not limited to just Golden Retrievers and their people.  This handsome fella is a Clumber Spaniel.  I have never met one before.  What a face.

As part of the festivities, The GRRSWF released butterflies in remembrance of all the Golden's that have passed away.   It was a very lovely and heartfelt tribute.

Howl-O-Ween Festival - Humane Society of Sarasota County - Pet Photography

The Humane Society of Sarasota County's 14th annual Howl-O-Ween Fall Festival was this past Saturday, out at the fairgrounds.  The HSSC teamed up with Pet Pages this year and the event was better than ever.  Despite the wet weather, it was a great turnout and this year's costume contest did not disappoint. Lucky for me the rain cleared up a bit to snap a few pics during the judging.

Merlin  (basset hound), and Zoey  (chow mix), are both up for adoption at the HSSC.  They proudly strutted their stuff in the parade line, looking so cute in their Halloween ribbon collars.

The K9 volunteers put on a demo with some star pups from the shelter. The HSSC volunteers have been working with specific dogs and displayed the great progress they have made in their training.  It was a fantastic addition to the festival this year.  From left to right we have -  Zoey, Teddy, Andy, Merlin, Rocco, and Stella (aka Stitch).

Elsie,  Meatball,  Riverdale,  Titan and a few other HSSC alumni came out to show their support as well.  It was heartwarming to see how well they are all doing with their new families.Humane Society of Sarasota County - Howl-O-Ween Fall Festival - 2011 - alumni

In between raindrops, I was able to capture some of the cuties all in costume.  Christmas came a little early with these doxies dressed as Santa's reindeer.  They were quite a hit.

Kickapoo Rescue Benefit - Sarasota Pet Photography

This Thursday October 27th, at 6:30pm is a benefit called,  The Road Home Old Friends New Faces.  The benefit is for Kickapoo Rescue here in Southwest Florida. I must admit, I knew very little about Kickapoo until my friend, Hera, of OceanWolf Agility told me about them. They are an amazing organization and here is a little of what Hera has to say about them.

" We have turned to Kickapoo Rescue for help many times over the years, especially with senior Labradors who had nowhere else to turn.

Kickapoo Rescue is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of unwanted, abandoned or abused dogs and horses and are especially known for their rescue of senior dogs and horses.  All of these animals are provided homes and quality veterinary care until they are able to be placed with loving and caring families.  Animals not adopted spend the remainder of their lives with Kickapoo.

Kickapoo Rescue is funded primarily through individual donations and the event at New College is their annual fundraiser.  This will be a fun evening with silent auctions, raffles and a surprise bartender.   100% of the proceeds go to Kickapoo Rescue.

The October/November issue of Sarasota Pet Magazine (www.sarasotapet.com) is running a story on the upcoming Kickapoo benefit.

Kickapoo Rescue is primarily made up of Kathy Allen and her daughter Bree.  They do incredible work and needs our support."

So if you are not busy on Thursday, come out and join the fun. There is going to be a silent auction with many wonderful items to bid on. I am proud to say that DogStreet Pet Photography has donated a Custom Photo Package.  So if you have been waiting to book a session with me here is your perfect opportunity to help out a local rescue group and receive a fantastic photo session in return. A win win for sure.

The Natural Wag - Sarasota Pet Photography - 2011

The Natural Wag event this passed Saturday, October 15th, was a great success thanks to our hosts SarasotaDog.com and Natural Awakening Pet Magazine.   It was such a beautiful morning on Orange Ave  in downtown Sarasota.

Along with meeting many new furry friends, there were mini-seminars throughout the morning.  Dr. Anne Chauvet gave a talk on brain food for dogs.  Jennifer Funk of Abundant Life Massage gave an Introduction to Canine Massage.  Jeanine of Jeanine's Professional Dog Training shared some great training tips.

After a morning full of informative information, there was a dog trick and talent show.  The winner won a full make over including a post make over photo shoot with DogStreet Pet Photography.   You still have another chance to win a custom photo package with DogStreet.  Find out how you can win HERE.

Among some of the wondering four legged friends, were representatives of Racing Dog Rescue Project (www.rdrp.greyhound.org).  These retiree's are some of the sweetest and most gentle dogs I have ever met.

There were other rescue organizations in attendance as well, including Gimme Shelter Pets and Satchel’s Last Resort.  The Humane Society of Sarasota County brought along  Zoe, Rihanna, and Nakita.  Rihanna, pictured in the center, was holding down the fort with Maria, one of the HSSC's super awesome volunteers.

I could not venture too far from my booth because throughout the morning the wind began to pick up.  Luckily, there was so much smooching and wiggling butts going on right in front of me that I didn't need too.

As the event started to wind down,  I noticed a woman from Satchel's Last Resort approaching with this lovely girl, Delilah.  She walked right up to my table and jumped up with the biggest smile on her face.  Almost as she was saying, "Ok I'm ready, Lets go home."  It was so funny, she just stayed there watching me until I grabbed my camera and took her picture.  Delilah definitely had me at hello and I almost let her hop in the back of my car as I was packing up.  This super friendly pooch currently resides at Satchel's Last Resort waiting to find her forever home.
